Hello! My name is Nick and if you're reading this, you are probably a friend or family member, so thank you in advance for checking in on me and reading my first blog post. I have to start somewhere and maybe I will get better at blogging as time goes along. This is my first blog post and I wouldn't expect too many readers early on, other than friends and family, thus I will keep it more informal and personal at the beginning while slowly making my blog more professional and bring in guest authors every now and then.
So... Here is what I am up to; I am starting a business with my Ecuadorian girlfriend, Nataly, she is 26 and we have been dating for almost 5 years. She currently studies Law at the Catholic University and also has a background in Fashion Design. Our business is going to be based online and our products will be Luxurious Alpaca Hats made from the best Alpaca Fleece and Handmade to Perfection for online retail to it's clients, consumers and web users through our online website, www.chimbora.com.
I am super excited about this, because I think we have a superb product not yet available to the world in the way we are presenting it and bringing it to the market. It will be a simplistic yet elegant design that will be superior to all other hats meant to keep you warm. Our brand is "Chimbora". Chimbora is short for Chimborazo, the tallest mountain in Ecuador (also known as the tallest mountain in the world from the center of the earth and closest point to the sun) at 20,560 feet. Chimborazo is on my bucket list to climb next year in 2018. Chimborazo is also a province of Ecuador and is known for having the largest remaining wild Alpaca herds roaming its territory in Ecuador, hence why we chose to use "Chimbora" as our brand name and website domain too.
As this blog grows I want to start discussing more relevant topics to Chimbora's customers, potential customers and it's followers such as the women's cooperative with whom we work knitting our hats, alpaca fleece vs sheep's wool, the alpaca animal, life in cuenca, the benefits of alpaca wool, visits to the Alpaca farms and where our yarn is spun, etc., in addition to posting lots of good photos and video content too. I really want to make this thing explode and Chimbora to become a popular name brand in the Alpaca world and a well known name that people can immediately associate with Alpaca fiber. I am so lucky to be living in Ecuador and have access to the best Alpaca yarn in the the world and to be able to bring this high end product to the USA.
This is going to be a lot of fun and I hope you will follow me as I continue to grow this blog and read my posts as they become interesting to you and comment if something flares out at you and we can build a community together.
It's a couple days before New Years, so Happy New Year! In spirit on the New Year I am sharing with you all a New Year's Exercise to help you structure your goals and New Year's Resolutions. I will attach them as photos, so you can download them and fill them out! I did mine!
